Getting Close

Outing to "The Color Purple Musical" with my sister yesterday. It was great!

Close to completing my "Nanner" socks for the Wendy Johnson KAL. Spinning my last of the BFL for the Tour de Fleece. I ordered 2 more BFL rovings from "My Favorite Thing" shop on ETSY. I am not quite sure if I will get that spun up in time to take with me.

As deployment gets closer, I am starting to decide what I am taking with me. Of course, first on my list is fibery related! I am pressed for space. Hope to take a reference book, a few skeins, and circs. BTW, just ordered a set of KP options and the additional case!

KP KAL Change in Plans!!!

Well, an update on my Knit Picks KAL. I have change my mind on the project to do. I have decided, as a new knitter, I should try something a little more simple. I was web surfing and came across a pattern called "3-to-2 Any Gauge Sweater. No "swatching" needed!!!! The birds were singing and I knew this was the pattern for me. I cast on for the sweater last night, 5/22. Pics of my project are on my Ravelry page. My ID on rav is "KnittyAJ".

Katarina Sweater

I joined KP "City Tweed" KAL. On May 16, my City Tweed, in Morning Glory colorway arrived. The perfect sweater yarn for this was hands down, "Katerina", by CoCo Knits. I have only been knitting for the four months. This will be my first attempt at knitting a sweater and I will triumph!!!!!

Yarn!!!

Had my 2nd spinning class. Yeah, completed my very first 2 ply yarn, fingering wt according to my teacher. I will post a pick on my flickr account as well as my Rav page. Of course, I have homework. I will be spinning 2 bobbins, 2 ozs each. I really have to invest in a scale so I can weigh my spun fiber. Hmmmm, will any scale do? I'll have to post that question or search that question on Ravelry.

Toe Up KAL

Wow! Having difficulting getting gauge for the first pair of socks in the Wendy Johnson's toe up socks KAL. The first pattern is pg 48. I swatched with a size 0, got 9 spi and gauge is 8 spi. This is the first of two problems. Suggested by the group moderator, I will go up to a size 1, swatch and check gauge.

Problem #2, I don't know how to read a chart! With lots of posts to the group and pm's to the author, I got help with that problem.

I'll be back with the update on my gauge progress. In case you didn't know, this will be my first official Rav KAL.

Look What I Did on My New Wheel!

I now am the proud owner of a "Lendrum". I purchased from Carolina Homespun while attending the MDS&W festival, 5/2-3/09. I have officially had my first spinning lesson at a LYS. I am now spinning what will be fingering weight yarn. My next class is on plying. Can't wait!

Summer Top

My first endeavor of a wearable object, other than one pair of socks. I swatched and casted on a basic shell pattern from "Knitting Pure & Simple. I just finished a 1x1 rib on what I thought was a #4, however, it was a #6 (needed for the body)!!!! I had already frogged it twice and didn't have the heart to frog it again. Soooo, with that said, the 1x1 rib and body will be all the same size. I figure, it will give me a little more room around the body. The finished product will tell.

Tote Bag Status!

I completed the tote bag as written on 3/16/09. However, I wanted to put a lining in it.. and I have. I am not too keen on the handles I purchased. So, until I find the "perfect" handles, the lining will remain basted in. I am pleased with the finished tote.

Just Cast Off!

Hey, started a Paton's pattern for a large tote bag last month. I got a few rows done and then put it away to focus on a pair of socks. I completed my socks and picked up the UFO tote bag. I am happy to write, I just cast off the tote. I now have to block, felt, attach the loops and handle!!! I hope to have it totally done by tomorrow. Hopefully I can get the bag posted tomorrow.

BTW her is a pic of my very FIRST pair of socks using magic loop cast on and toe up method.

"Toe Up" vs "Cuff Down"-Heel Turn Direction ??

As a new knitter and one that has an addition to knitting a complete pair of sock, I have a questions. Someone asked about the direction heel turn in toe up vs cuff down sock. In my cuff down sock, the heel turn is under the heel. In my toe up sock, the heel turn is at the back of the heel. Does that sound right for both heel turns to be in different directions? Hmmmmm.
